- Title: The Immunophenotypic Expression of Nuclear Factor kB (NF-kB), Cyclin DI, and Insulin Growth Factor Binding Protein (IGFBP) in Estrogen Positive and Estrogen Negative Breast Cancer Before and After Tamoxifen and Neoadjuvant Treatment.
- Hypothesis: NF-kB activity (as measured by the amount of phosphorylated NF-kB) is elevated during progression of breast cancer, where as IGFBP-3 expression is inversely regulated.
- Specific Aims: To identify the differences in NF-kB activity and expression of BCL2, cyclin DI, and IGFBP-3 in (1) breast cancer and benign breast tissue, (2) metastatic breast carcinoma compared with non-metastatic disease, (3) recurrent breast carcinoma compared with non-recurrent disease, and (4) breast carcinoma and the relationship to the estrogen receptor, progesteron receptor, and Her2 expression.
